IMX533 Color Camera

The SmartEye's IMX533 CMOS sensor delivers exceptional image quality with a 3008 x 3008 resolution, providing approximately 9 megapixels. Its high dynamic range preserves subtle brightness variations, accurately capturing both faint and bright celestial objects. Advanced noise reduction technology further enhances image clarity by minimizing background interference.

Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC)

SmartEye features a powerful thermoelectric cooling system that can lower the sensor temperature by up to 30°C below ambient. This cooling significantly reduces sensor noise during long exposures, resulting in cleaner, sharper views with enhanced detail.

Auto Image Enhancement

SmartEye’s advanced auto-stacking feature improves the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and optimizes color calibration, allowing deep-sky objects to appear in vibrant detail. This technology makes it possible to view objects in rich color that would otherwise be difficult to detect through a standard small telescope.

Integrated ST-4 Autoguiding Port

SmartEye features an integrated ST-4 Auto Guiding port. Currently, it can act as a guide camera via ASCOM ALPACA and third-party imaging software like N.I.N.A. and SharpCap. A future update will enable SmartEye to send small corrections to your telescope mount during live stacking, ensuring precise tracking and keeping objects centered during observations.

Dual Role Functionality

SmartEye can function as a digital standalone eyepiece or as a cooled astronomical camera (ASCOM Alpaca). It supports the capture of FIT files with customizable exposure and gain settings, allowing users to tailor astrophotography sessions to their preferences.

One-Cable Operation (USB-C)

SmartEye supports one-cable operation via USB-C, powering both the device and its TEC cooling system. With up to 3A of power, this single connection simplifies your setup while maintaining efficient cooling and optimal performance for extended viewing sessions.

Wide 90° Field of View

SmartEye’s Ultra High Definition display offers a resolution of 2560×2560, providing sharp, detailed visuals of celestial objects. Its expansive 90° field of view enhances observation, while a diopter adjustment range of +1D to -5D accommodates various visual needs. The 12mm eye relief ensures comfortable viewing for prolonged sessions.

Accelerometer and Gyroscope

SmartEye includes an integrated accelerometer and gyroscope. These sensors will detect vibrations and automatically exclude affected images from the stack, ensuring only the best-quality data is used. Future updates may leverage these sensors to aid in locating objects. 

SD Card Slot

SmartEye includes a micro SD card slot, allowing users to store individual images in FIT format directly to their own SD cards, providing flexibility and ease in managing image storage.

SkySafari App Integration

With SkySafari integration, users can share their live view from SmartEye directly to the app or via a web link with friends. Manage, share, and edit images, adjust SmartEye’s settings, monitor its status, and access detailed information about observed celestial objects, all from within the app.
SkySafari is a powerful, paid star chart programme (during Black Friday sales, the software is usually available at half price).

ASCOM Alpaca Support

The SmartEye device supports ASCOM Alpaca Camera integration, offering seamless compatibility with popular astronomy software like N.I.N.A. for more comprehensive control and imaging capabilities.
