The new top-of-the-range ESPRIT EDX series from Sky-Watcher, featuring 3-element ED apochromatic optics, offers premium instruments of the highest quality with impressive performance that is comparable even to high-end telescopes.
Optics
The new Sky-Watcher ESPRIT-80EDX model is particularly compact but equipped with full performance. It features an exceptional f/5 optical system with a premium lens made from Japanese Ohara FPL-53 ED glass.
With a 80 mm aperture and 400 mm focal length, it is particularly well suited for large celestial objects and extensive nebulae. At the same time, it is compact enough for any holiday trip or a trip to see a solar eclipse.
Coating
Each glass-air surface has been coated with a special anti-reflective metal coating to achieve maximum light transmission of 99.5%. Sky-Watcher's proprietary ‘Metallic High-Transmission Coating’ (MHTC) is the highest quality anti-reflective coating in its class!
Features
The ESPRIT 80EDX features the same outstanding f/5 optical system as the previous model including one premium Japanese Ohara FPL-53 ED glass lens element. Each air-to-glass lens surface has exotic anti-reflection metallic coatings applied, to ensure optimum light throughput approaching 99.5%!! The proprietary Sky-Watcher “Metallic High-Transmission Coatings” (MHTC) are the finest photon anti-rejection coatings in their class!
The ESPRIT 80EDX has an improved back end design that dispenses with the capstan wheel of the previous model, allowing the focuser to be more easily rotated. Additionally, there is a rotatable adaptor provided on the drawtube to further assist in framing your images.
The previous built in dovetail foot has also been dispensed with, with a dovetail bar and single clamshell tube ring now included. A carrying handle is provided for convenience.
Features a rock-solid CNC Machined dual-speed rack & pinion linear power focuser with high load capacity and zero image shift, with a 2.8" indexed drawtube.
Supplied in a foam lined aluminium framed storage/carrying case.
An optically matched Field Flattener (code 20187) is available as an optional accessory for imaging.
Please note that the telescope is supplied without eyepieces, zenith mirror/prism and viewfinder.
