Bahtinov masks can roughly be calculated and manufactured for many telescopes, but - as in our case - it can also be calculated and manufactured precisely for the correct aperture, focal length and the resulting aperture ratio.
Our Astrogarten 3D Bahtinov mask ONLY fits the Sky-Watcher EVOSTAR 72ED DS-Pro optics / tube (72 / 420 mm, f/5.8), because we have matched our mask exactly to the dew cap. This means that you don't have to first set the correct distance with screws, but put the mask on the dew cap practically like a lid, focus and remove the mask again. Finished.
IMPORTANT - ONLY for optics with 72mm lens aperture
The maximum dew cap diameter must not exceed 90mm, otherwise the mask will not fit! In this case we would be happy to manufacture your personal Bahtinov mask for your optics - please contact us.
Functionality
Gone is the guesswork of whether the stars are in focus or not. All you have to do is put our Astrogarten 3D Bahtinov mask on the front of the dew cap and look at the resulting diffraction pattern on the star.
On each side there are three so-called "spikes" (a total of six), in which the middle spike is movable. Now place this symmetrically in the middle. On closer inspection, a weaker "star" becomes visible between the spikes and the main star (the so-called 3rd order), this must also be set / resolved symmetrically for all spikes: done.
In this way, you can focus a picture 100% in just a few seconds.
