product description

  • Easy to attach to microscopes, binoculars, spotting scopes and telescopes
  • Allows you to take photos with your own smartphone
  • Suitable for most smartphones
  • Securely holds smartphones with a width of 55-95 mm
  • Suitable for eyepiece diameters of 30-63 mm
  • Tactical clamping: only on the top and bottom of the mobile phone, so that most functions/buttons are not accidentally triggered
  • Rubberised & non-slip clamping surface for eyepieces and smartphones
  • Made entirely of aluminium
  • Precise adjustment of the smartphone camera above the eyepiece in three directions
  • No ‘subsequent’ bending as with comparable plastic mounts
  • Encourage young people at public events or through holiday programmes – there is nothing better for children/young people than taking their own photos.

With our Astrogarten XYZ Premium Holder, you can now take photos comfortably and very precisely through a microscope, binoculars, spotting scope or telescope.

To do this, insert your own smartphone into the clamp mount and then attach our XYZ Premium Mount to the corresponding eyepiece. Check that it is securely fastened so that the mount and smartphone cannot fall out (special care should be taken with rotating eyecups!). It must always be firmly attached.

Now use the three knurled screws to position your smartphone directly above the exit pupil (= light exit opening) of the eyepiece. Adjust the camera settings if necessary and then photograph your object of desire.

Ideal for promoting young talent at events

Our Astrogarten XYZ Premium Holder is particularly well suited for all public events: for children and young people, there is nothing better than discovering nature or the universe and taking their own photos.

Support young talent in schools, research and leisure activities!

Tips for successful photography with your smartphone.

Turn off screen lock

First, turn off any screen lock settings that are set too short, as it can take several seconds to minutes to adjust the settings before you can take your first proper photo – depending on what you are doing – and there is nothing more annoying than your smartphone switching off in the middle of it.

Clean screen

Clean your smartphone beforehand so that you have a clear, clean and sharp view of the image.

Adjust the focus

First, adjust the focus on the microscope, binoculars, spotting scope or telescope with your own eyes – this is the initial focus, because the smartphone only receives the focus that you set yourself, i.e. a smartphone cannot make the image any sharper.

Clamping

Clamp carefully without pressing any function buttons.

Clamp the smartphone so that you do not pinch any buttons.

The free clamping area on the side must be at least 28 mm. The retaining clips also have an angle so that most buttons cannot be accidentally pressed here.

Tip: First place your smartphone in the left clamping side and press down on the entire clamping area to insert your mobile phone. Only then should you switch on the camera.

Camera lens & zoom factor

You can zoom in slightly on the image, but this usually changes the camera lens, so you will need to reposition the mobile phone using the three XYZ positioning screws.

If the result on the smartphone is blurry, you will need to refocus with your eye or try using the phone's screen (the further you zoom in, the more precisely you need to focus).

Stray light protection

Daylight photography usually causes extreme reflections on the phone screen, but our Astrogarten Observation Cloth Professional (b/w) provides a remedy.

Triggering

Use your smartphone's self-timer for shake-free triggering – 2 seconds is usually sufficient.

Take photos without flash.

Adjusting the angle of inclination

A small advantage that others do not have: depending on the weight of your smartphone, you can adjust the angle of inclination for perfect image results so that your smartphone is parallel to the light beam. To do this, slightly loosen the two hexagon socket screws located close together above the logo (left + right) and align your smartphone parallel to the eyepiece. Tighten the screws again. Done.

We hope you enjoy our Astrogarten XYZ Premium Holder.
